Marine vessels are examined occasionally to prevent disastrous impairment and ensure crew and environmental safety following statutory norms. Underwater Inspection in Lieu of Dry-Docking (UWILD) is used as a substitute to the conventional dry-docking procedure of inspecting marine vessels wherein the submerged part of the vessel hull is inspected while in operation to reduce stoppage, further travel time and cost.
UWILD surveys can be performed using divers & ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) to determine major damages and significant marine growth; Ultrasonic thickness measurement. These observations will be as live observation in the presence of a class surveyor and representatives of the vessel management company.
